Knocking It Out of the Park
“I hate to lose more than I love to win.” This simple yet powerful statement drives Megan Mueller in life, particularly her career. A multi-sport athlete growing up, Megan learned early on the key to success was being disciplined and working well with others. Today, as creative director for Herschend Creative Studios, Megan collaborates daily with others, helping shape guest experiences and brands for Herschend Enterprises. As the nation’s largest family-owned attractions company, Herschend Enterprises creates, develops, and operates entertainment, tourism, and hospitality properties throughout the U.S., employing thousands and entertaining millions.

Joining Herschend in late 2021, Megan is the primary creative director for Herschend’s two regional theme parks in Georgia and Kentucky -- Wild Adventures and Kentucky Kingdom, and two aquariums in New Jersey and Kentucky -- Adventure Aquarium and Newport Aquarium. As part of the Studios’ storytelling group, Megan uses her well-rounded background in design development to create guest experiences that support the properties’ brands, drive revenue, and ultimately make families happy. Megan has recently worked on a nearly three-acre addition for Wild Adventures called Oasis Outpost. The new area, opening in March 2023, features a family ride, a water play area, five animal habitats, and a pizza eatery.

Before going to Herschend, Megan worked as a show set designer for Universal Creative in Orlando. While there, she was on the team tasked with developing Villain-Con Minion Blast, a new attraction opening in the summer of 2023.   Megan’s foray into themed attraction design began with Ripley’s Entertainment Inc., where she worked for six years, growing from a graphic designer in the marketing department to a creative manager in the design and development team. While there, Megan managed a six-person team that supported 100 attractions, including Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditoriums, aquariums, various franchises, and traveling shows.

Megan began her design career at Margaritaville Merchandising, working for five years with the global leisure and entertainment brand. She started as a graphic designer, working on merchandise, packaging, presentations, and events for Margaritaville’s restaurants, retail stores, pre-packaged foods, and spirits. Later, she was promoted to creative team leader, conceptualizing new ideas for merchandise, retail fixtures, and product line displays.

Megan has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Known for its cross-disciplinary curriculum, she loved studying all aspects of design, including hand drawing and hand lettering.

Megan loves spoiling her nine-year-old Chihuahua, Sophie, and spending time with friends. She is a seasoned traveler who loves friend-fueled adventures to spots like Napa, California, and Charleston, South Carolina. At the same time, she loves returning to her home state of Wisconsin twice a year for family-filled visits, nourishing her yen for Midwestern “down-to-earth” charm rooting for the Green Bay Packers.
